More features? No! More better feature

So many times we hear about a wonderful idea for the app that can be sold and/or will attract more people to the site.

Sometimes it’s good to sit back and look at what you already have and ask yourself this:

What’s wrong with our current offering that means we need new ones to attract more visitors and sales?

With a small team working on a large project it’s sometimes better to improve your core offering before trying to do something new. At the end of the day your business was probably built around a good idea. If that idea is still relevant today then just make it better. If it’s obsolete then consider replacing it. You’ll need less staff and have a more maintainable codebase if you stick to this.

I’m not saying it’s never a good idea to add new features to an already feature rich application, just that you should consider the above first.
